How Do You Really Feel After Skydiving?

So many fret over what skydiving will feel like. Will it be terrifying? (Possibly) Exhilarating? (Probably) Breathtaking? (Undoubtedly)

Few spare a thought for what happens next: how do you feel after skydiving?

The moments before you take flight you might expect a slightly elevated—albeit rhythmic—pitter-patter from your fluttering heart and the trepidatious stirrings of excitement, but what do you have in mind for after you land?

Though the experience during a skydive will vary some from person to person, there’s quite a bit of unanimity around how it feels after skydiving. Enter “the stages.”

In our experience, there are three primary emotional stages you will go through after skydiving: the relief stage, the joy stage, and the “I can do anything” stage. Here’s the breakdown of each.

1. The Relief Stage

Let’s be real. At some point along the journey, you let your wily mind run wild allowing it to concoct all sort of worrisome scenarios. When your feet finally meet the sweet earth again, admittedly, there is a rush of relief to pair with the flood of adrenaline coursing through you. You made it. You really made it! Feel free to whoop, holler, or kiss the ground. You deserve to celebrate.

2. The Joy Stage

The relief stage is quickly eclipsed by the joy stage. With your cells completely awash in the happiness chemical cocktail that skydiving releases, it’s hard to contain the elation you feel. The joy stage is a beautiful “walking on sunshine” sensation that will follow you around for the rest of the day and well into the night.

3. The “I Can Do Anything” Stage

Once it really hits home that you have not only survived but had also completely crushed your first skydive, you will enter the “I can do anything” stage. By far, this is our favorite stage of how you feel after skydiving. The “I can do anything” stage has no expiration date. It’s a persistent feeling that whatever challenges you may encounter, you can totally handle. After all, you did go skydiving!

Aside from three emotional stages, your experience of skydiving will have some pretty noteworthy effects that you will feel long after you land.
